The Mini: a Classic! What is not to love about a mini? It is not surprising that Mini car sales have held up over the last few years, even during the recession. The classic design which has lasted so well throughout the years is an iconic symbol and remains as trendy and modern today as it was when originally launched. And it has got so much better than the original ones. The improvement in technology has made the mini into something of a gadget machine. The sleek interior, the silver knobs and the leather seats still make it an object of desire. But now you have the high tech dashboard and co-ordinated buttons too. When you compare the Mini to other cars of the same price, you sometimes wonder why people are prepared to pay that much when you can get a whole lot more of another type for your money. Even second hand prices are close to the new price, making it a very covetable asset. Exactly what it is that makes the Mini such a status symbol I do not know. But I do know one thing for sure. As soon as you ease yourself into the leather seat and race off down the street, you suddenly feel eighteen again! One thing has definitely changed though. This time round you do not have to bump start it down the street like the first one I had many years ago! |
